Psilocybin mushrooms and psilocybin mushroom retreats have gotten a lot of attention for their therapeutic benefits. Oregon is leading the charge in this psychedelic renaissance in the US.
How Oregon Changed The Laws
In November 2020, Oregon voters made a big decision. They passed Ballot Measures 109 and 110 which changed how psilocybin is treated in the state. Measure 109 allows adults 21+ to use psilocybin in a supervised setting. Measure 110 decriminalized personal possession of small amounts of all drugs and focuses on treatment not punishment.
What Psilocybin Retreats Offer
With these new laws, psilocybin retreats are popping up in Oregon. These retreats provide a place where people can use psilocybin mushrooms with trained professionals. It’s not like buying weed from a store; psilocybin use is only allowed in these controlled environments. This way the experience is safe and supported for the participants.
Considering the Impact on Oregon
People are wondering how this will affect Oregon’s economy and community. Some investors are interested to get in on the action. But there are still a lot of questions and how much it will cost to participate in these retreats. There are still a lot to figure out but many are hopeful for the positive impact on wellness and treatment options.
Looking Beyond Oregon
As Oregon moves into this new era, it’s interesting to see how other places are handling psilocybin. Take Jamaica for example. Psilocybin mushrooms have never been illegal there and they’re actively courting investment in this space. Jamaica’s approach shows how accepting natural therapies can open up opportunities for individuals and communities.
